For the profession

Listing your practice

Listing on The Roll is free for Attorneys-at-Law, law firms and chambers. You sign up with your email, confirm it, and our team reviews your listing before it appears in the directory.

The short version

Free to list

There is no charge to list a lawyer, firm or chambers, or to keep a listing.

Reviewed before it's public

A new listing waits for our team's review. Approval is a publishing decision, not a check of your credentials.

One profile per lawyer

If your enrollment number is already listed, you claim that profile instead of creating a duplicate.

Choose how you join

Three ways to sign up

List your practice asks who you are first, so it only asks for what that kind of listing needs.

Attorney-at-Law

Your own profile

  • Your full name, email, enrollment number and district.
  • Optionally your city or town and your enrollment date.
  • Your profile is linked to your account, so only you and people you authorise can edit it.

Firm or chambers

A firm or chambers listing

  • The practice's type, name and district, and the owner's name and email.
  • If the owner is a lawyer, add their enrollment number to create their own profile at the same time.
  • The account that signs up becomes the firm's first owner.

Just an account

For clerks and staff

  • Only an email address, and optionally your name.
  • For people who help manage a lawyer's profile or a firm without being listed themselves.
  • A lawyer or firm then gives this account access.

From sign-up to listed

What happens after you sign up.

Nothing is added to the directory until you confirm your email, so nobody can reserve your enrollment number with an address they don't control.

  1. Step 1

Choose List your practice, say whether you're an Attorney-at-Law, a firm or chambers, and fill in the short form, including a password of at least 12 characters.

  2. Step 2

    Confirm your email

We email you a link. Open it and enter your password to confirm your account. This creates your listing, or files your claim if your enrollment number is already listed.

  3. Step 3

    Complete your profile

Add your practice areas, services, languages, contact details, offices, hours, experience and qualifications. You choose which contact details are public.

  4. Step 4

    Review and publication

Our team reviews the listing and publishes it in the directory. Later changes to published details go back to review; some, like your hours, appear at once.

Already listed?

Claiming a profile that already exists

Some lawyers were listed before they had an account. You can take over your profile rather than create a second one.

Sign up with your enrollment number

Register as an Attorney-at-Law as usual. When you confirm your email, we notice the enrollment number is already listed and file a claim instead of a new profile.

Already have an account?

Open My lawyer profiles and choose Create my lawyer profile. An enrollment number that is already listed files a claim in the same way.

Our team decides the claim

Claims are reviewed by our team, who may contact you to confirm it's you. You can see a pending claim on My lawyer profiles. Approving it links the profile to your account.

Someone else has claimed it

A profile has only one linked account. If a profile is linked to someone who isn't you, report it through the contact page and our team will look into it.

Common questions

Questions people ask

How much does it cost to list a practice on The Roll?

Nothing. Listing an Attorney-at-Law, a law firm or chambers on The Roll is free, and so is searching the directory.

How long does review take?

Our team reviews new listings and changes as they arrive. Your listing shows as pending in your account until it is approved, and you can keep editing it meanwhile.

My enrollment number is already listed. What do I do?

Sign up as an Attorney-at-Law with that enrollment number, or choose Create my lawyer profile if you already have an account. The Roll files a claim, and our team links the existing profile to your account once it is approved.

Can my clerk manage my profile?

Yes. Your clerk signs up for an account with just their email, and you give them access from the Delegates tab of your profile. You can revoke it at any time.

Does approval mean The Roll has verified me?

No. Approval means our team is content to publish the listing. Checks of specific details, such as your enrollment, are recorded separately and shown with their date.

Ready to list your practice?

It takes a couple of minutes. You can add your offices, hours, experience and qualifications once you're in.
