Privacy guide
Choosing what your profile shows
You decide which of your contact details and locations appear on your public profile. Nothing is published until you choose to show it, and you can hide a detail again at any time without waiting for review.
The short version
Off until you say
Each telephone number, email, address and map pin is private until you choose to show it.
Hide at once
Hiding a detail takes effect immediately and keeps your profile in the directory.
Your sign-in stays private
Your account email, your private contact for The Roll and your delegates never appear publicly.
Show publicly
Each detail has its own switch.
Beside each of these on your profile and office forms is a Show publicly choice, and a live Public preview shows the contact card visitors will see and lists what you're keeping private.
New profiles and offices start with nothing published.
Your landline
Shown on your contact card, and tappable to call on a phone.
Your mobile number
Message on WhatsApp is offered only while your mobile is published, because the WhatsApp link contains the number.
Your fax and contact email
Your contact email is separate from the email you sign in with, which is never shown.
Your street address
Without it, visitors still see your district and city or town.
Your location on the map
Publishes the map and the links to a larger map and to directions. Hide it and none of these appear.
Fixed rules
Some things don't have a switch
A few details place you in the directory, and a few are only ever for The Roll.
Always shown
On every approved profile
- Your name and enrollment number.
- Your district and city or town, which place you in search and on district pages.
- Your professional website, if you add one.
Never shown
Only for you and The Roll
- The email address you sign in with.
- Your private contact for The Roll: a name, email or phone our team can use about your listing.
- Your delegates, your contribution interests and the details of private offices.
In control
Changing your mind
Hiding is immediate
Hide a published detail and the next visitor no longer sees it. Your profile keeps its approval, so you can take a number down without leaving the directory.
Publishing is reviewed
Showing a detail for the first time publishes new information, so it returns your profile to review like any other change.
Hidden means hidden everywhere
A hidden detail is left out of your profile, directory cards, maps and The Roll app. Search matches names only, so nobody can find you by a hidden number.
Offices follow the same rules
Each office has its own choices. A private office publishes nothing, whatever its choices say. Your primary office's address and map pin choices also apply to your profile.
A record of changes
The Privacy tab lists your last 50 changes to what you publish, with who made each one, so you can see what a delegate changed.
Common questions
Questions people ask
Do I have to publish my phone number to be listed?
No. Every contact detail is optional and private until you choose to show it. Your name, enrollment number and district are what place you in the directory.
Is the email I sign in with shown on my profile?
No. Your sign-in email is private. If you want visitors to email you, add a contact email to your profile and choose to show it.
What is the private contact for The Roll?
An optional name, email or phone, set on the Privacy tab, that our team can use about your listing, for example review questions or corrections. It is never published.
Can I show WhatsApp without showing my mobile number?
No. The WhatsApp link contains your number, so it is offered only while your mobile number is published.
Review your choices.
The Privacy tab of your profile lists recent changes to what you publish, and holds your private contact for The Roll.
